WHEN DID YOU START COACHING AT CCFH?
Summer of 2021
WHY/HOW DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS (AND CROSSFIT)?
I have always been into fitness as a kid and teenager by playing multiple sports. When I went to high school, I played soccer and I was a competitive cheerleader. Once I went to college, I participated on the cheerleading team, though it was not a competitive cheer team. When I graduated and started working, I struggled to find the motivation to go to the gym after a long day of work, and only utilized my previous Planet Fitness membership maybe once. I knew something had to change, as I was in horrible shape and desperately wanted to get back to loving fitness again. That was when I walked into Carlisle CrossFit for the first time and though I was very nervous, I was excited to learn the ins and outs of the program. After a couple weeks of learning some of the movements, and getting to know the coaches and other members, I was hooked.
WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?
I have been thinking about becoming a CrossFit trainer for a while, but was always limited with my full time job. That was until I became pregnant in September of 2020. I told my husband and the coaches at the gym that if I was feeling well enough, did not want to sit around for 9 months. I wanted to continue working out as I always have, but of course with modifications as the months progressed. Fast forward 9 months, and I was one week overdue and still going to the gym daily. After having my daughter in May via C-section, I was nervous for the recovery, as the C-section was not planned. To my surprise, I have had a very smooth recovery and I attribute it to my activity levels throughout my pregnancy. After a spectacular summer learning how to be a mother (I’m still learning!), I decided to resign from teaching and devote my time to becoming a trainer. I knew that I wanted to help other people feel the same confidence either during/after a pregnancy, or any other life and health-altering situation. I was confident in my ability to teach as I was a teacher for 4 years previously, and I knew combining my two passions, teaching and CrossFit, I would truly enjoy what I would do everyday.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IN THE GYM?
My favorite things to do in the gym would be any type of weight lifting. I also really enjoy short interval workouts!
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR REST DAYS?
I spend my rest days relaxing with my husband, daughter, my dog Simba, and my cat Cash. We usually go on a long walk by the lake where we live as well.
WHAT MAKES YOU THE HAPPIEST WHEN WORKING WITH OUR MEMBERS?
Seeing the people come in and excited to participate makes me excited to coach. Specifically in the youth program, members must hit certain milestones to go up in levels. When a youth member reaches a milestone known as a Star Test, it is always so exciting for them and for me!
